Artist statement

Always starting from direct observation, my work allows for slippage between things that are recognizable and the abstract. My paintings and drawings are reactions to objects both fabricated and found. Although I am describing the experience of the object in my proximity, I am always listening to what is developing within the painting as a point of departure. I am always looking for a dynamic reciprocity between visual perception and an invisible kind of poetry.
